Visiting the Cottage


Location:

Cnr. Birdwood Avenue & Dallas Brooks Drive, Melbourne (near the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Shrine).

Open:

Every Sunday 2- 4pm (October-May), last Sunday (June-September),
Australia Day, 26 January, and some school holidays & special event days.

La Trobe Society, Friends of La Trobe’s Cottage & National Trust members free.


Group tours:

Cottage and Government House:

Available by appointment, including a visit to Government House when available.

Cottage and Labassa:

Getting there:

From the city: take Tram No. 8 to Stop 22 on Domain Road, just past Dallas Brooks Drive. 
Alternatively, take any other tram along St Kilda Road (except Route 1) to Stop 20 and walk across the park.

From South Yarra Station: take Tram No. 8 to Stop 22 on Domain Road, just before Dallas Brooks Drive.

The Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle bus stops on Birdwood Avenue near the Shrine, just before La Trobe’s Cottage.  This is Stop 13 on the bus route.

La Trobe’s Cottage is located on the corner of Birdwood Avenue & Dallas Brooks Drive.
Parking in neighboring streets is free on Sundays.
